Old Family Pictures

While mom and dad were on their mission I was able to scan a few treasured family pictures. Here are a few of my favorites.

This is a picture of my grandfather and grandmother Mecham. Grandpa passed away when I was seven months old and I never knew him. One reason I like this picture so much is that I can see them happy together. I miss grandma too. I knew her better than any of my other grandparents. I miss racing into her house to help her fix lunch while dad finished mowing the lawn or water the garden. It sure seemed like food tasted so good at grandma's house!

This is with Grandpa and my Great-Grandpa. Some day I'll meet them both again.

This is of course my beautiful mother. No wonder dad fell in love so quickly.

Chickens!?

Stefanie decided she wanted some chickens - and that is how it all started. Within a couple of weeks her and Heather had planned the coop and started buying lumber.

Another couple of weeks and this is sitting in our backyard!

The roost

They were delivered in this little box. We could hear the chirping and everyone was so excited. They were two days old when we got them.

Tori and Wade had a fun time naming them. Here is a brief introduction -

I don't know how it happens for everyone else, but for us the chickens came before the egg.

Fathers and Sons

I took Wade camping last month. It was a make-up for the Fathers and Sons that we missed. We invited the Petersen men and boys. We visited Workman's Falls.

I think he liked it - just a little

I wish I had pictures of him picking blackberries. Though, there is some evidence of it on his shirt! Grandpa even made some fresh blackberry syrup for our french toast! It was yummy! Luckily I had the trailer and I was able to clean him up afterward.

Crazy Days

The kids were being pretty funny. They are always in a good mood when we come home from church.

First Day of School

A very happy and sad day. Tori was so excited to go to school. She was a little nervous. Tori is so brave and trusting. I am very proud of her.

Fishing...

I need to start somewhere... like writing in a journal - you always want to start with so many memories. It's a bit overwhelming, but we'll see how it goes.

We have been teaching Tori and Wade how to fish. There are a few local ponds that are close. They absolutely love it - just wait until they actually catch a fish! We bought them poles about a month ago and have been practicing their casting. I was quite surprised at how quickly they picked up on it. They can cast 25-30 feet almost every time.

Their first fishing trip (if you can call it a trip). The park is about 5 minutes from our house. We lasted about 45 minutes then headed for the play area.

It's a tough life!
